This site is for MacOS X users of
IRAF, the Image Reduction
and Analysis Facility. NOAO added a MacOS X port with IRAF 2.12, to the delight of Macintosh astronomers everywhere. This page is aimed at
people who desire to run IRAF on their own Macintosh running
OS X, but at the same time have never installed or
maintained IRAF on a Unix machine. I made this page to help Mac users deal with getting IRAF up and running. I am a graduate student in the Physics and Astronomy Department at Rice University in Houston, Texas.
Please keep in mind that NOAO is responsible for the development and porting of the IRAF software. I’m not a programmer. I just use Macs and I use IRAF and I thought I’d make this site to help out fellow Mac-users. But the totality of my work was to make the .pkg installers, the IRAF Button program, and to making this web site. The good folks at NOAO did all the real work in making IRAF, and making it work on MacOS X.
