p>STSDAS and Tables were upgraded to version 3.1 a few weeks ago. These are rather large packages and I’ll try and get .pkg installers for them up on the download page soon.
<
p>I don’t know if the installation instructions are as baffling as they used to be, but obviously the installer I made should install the latest version so I’ll get that done this week sometime. The web site changes have been taking up too much of my time as it is.

Here’s a simple but nifty trick. Say you’re navigating around in the
Terminal and you would like to see the present working directory in the
Finder? Just type
% open .
and the Finder will open up the folder you’re in. This works in both
xterms and the Apple Terminal.

p>Well, I’ve spent the better part of the day getting this new Blog up and running. I wanted to populate
the blog with old entries from the news on the IRAF page. My plan is to use this setup to easily add tips and news that are related to IRAF or Astronomy. I think it’ll be easier than manually editing my web page.
<
p>If you use Newswatcher or some other RSS reader, you can add the RSS URL which is available in the sidebar on the left.

<
p>Remember that the Archive and Install feature of the Jaguar and Panther installers move pretty much everything into
/Previous Systems/ and this includes /usr/local. In order to get X11IRAF and IDL things that you probably
installed in /usr/local/bin you’ll have to navigate in the terminal into Previous System/Previous Systems 1/usr and then
<
p>
% sudo mv local /usr/local
which should do the job. I’m fairly certain a fresh install of OS X does not put anything in /usr/local, but you might want to check first.
