Yeah, I think some package receipt gets screwed up because every update breaks it. Ultimately, I started getting other framework related problems - Address book wouldn't open, keychain access started acting odd - I finally did a fresh install of OS X on a seperate internal hard drive, updated to 10.4.9 or whatever, and pointed my home direcotry back to the original drive. Sort of my own archive & install, I guess - same effect.

That seemed to clear everything up fine - now updates no longer break Kerberos or OS X in general. I don't know if the keychain/address book problems were related to Kerberos and all but ... they're all gone now; things work fine.

Thanks for this fix. I've been doing this umpteen times now - every time osx installs an update and am getting concerned that overwriting Kerberos with an old version is introducing security holes. Therefore I've downloaded Fink and installed openssh as suggested on the Apple Support forum.
