Leopard X11 Page at MacOSForge

December 4th, 2007 by admin

So, those of you who are running Leopard’s X11 may be interested to check out the download page at MacOS Forge which contains all the new changes made to Xquartz/X11, etc. since the release that made it into Leopard. They even have nice .pkg installers for people who want to install the latest versions before they become available in OS X Software Update.

Grab the 2.1.0.1 release and see the changes that have been made over the version in Leopard.

Congrats to you, Marcos, on receiving the Bahcall Fellowship! For those of us in the Mac-Astro community that have used your site heavily, we think it was a good decision by the AAS. Cheers.

The latest versions of this (e.g., 2.2.3) apparently include a full X11 distribution that replaces the Apple version. Accordingly, if you want to have “focus follows mouse” with X11 after installing the SourceForge X11 package, you now have to type

“defaults write org.x.X11 wm_ffm -bool true”

    instead of

    “defaults write com.apple.x11 wm_ffm true”.

This also means that you will probably have to reinstall the SourceForge distribution after each Apple Leopard update.
